Crowfoot Glacier

Crowfoot Glacier.

The Crowfoot Glacier has retreated, losing one lobe since being named, thus decreasing its resemblance to a Crow’s Foot. Meltwater from the glacier supplies the Bow River. Crowfoot was formerly attached to the Waputik Icefield [ref name=”parks”]Parks Canada. 2010. Banff National Park of Canada.[/ref].

Peyto Lake viewpoint

Peyto Lake

Peyto Lake.

The delta and outwash plane from the Wapta Icefield is infilling the 5
moraine-dammed Peyto Lake. The lookout also provides views of Peyto (2970 m) and Thompson (3065 m) mountains, and Bow Lake [backref name=”parks”].

Access & Location

A short hike from the turnoff to Bow Summit on Icefields Parkway, in Banff National Park, 40 km north of the junction with Highway 1.
