Dear Textbook Companies:
If you want me to review the e-version of your textbooks, you need to allow me to download the text and view it on an e-reader, not security-lock it to view via your (slow & buggy) website. If you distributed it via Amazon or iTunes, they’d have the ability to retroactively revoke the book-access anyway.
As a quick tip: PDFing the original book does not make for a very good e-version, as the fixed width and font size does not play nicely with most readers. Using e-reader formats (proprietary or open) with dynamic text re-sizing is a very basic requirement for a decent e-text.
